ESA Wonderful Wednesday- June 26, 2013

Happy Wonderful Wednesday Everyone!

I am so excited to announce that the Texas State Council has a FaceBook page!  Royce Walker, our Social Media Chairman, created the FaceBook account. She is adding information on a very frequent basis, as FaceBook accounts are a work in progress with changes and additions as the days pass by...!  This is so exciting!!!  So what to do:
1) Go into your FaceBook account.
2) Search for "Texas State Council Epsilon Sigma Alpha International" (use those words exactly in that order and you should arrive at the FaceBook page).
3) When you find the account, view, like the site, and connect to it (or follow it).
4) Make sure to let everyone you know about our brand new FaceBook page.
5) We are hoping to have many followers/friends.... We want you to be a part!
Thank you so much Royce for getting us to the first step in Social Media!

To answer the IAWL Trivia Questions from last week - Clarence Oddbody and ASII stands for Angel Second Class.  Did you guess correctly?  I heard from several with correct answers.  Next time, I will need to think of something a bit more difficult!

Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday (and many more) for the next week to the following sisters:
Charlsa Waldrop - June 29 of Lambda Alpha of District VIII
Erica May - June 30 of Rho Theta, District I
Ronda Hostetter - June 30 of Epsilon Pi, District V
Tammy Probst - July 2 of Rho Theta, District I and Past Texas State President
Cheryl Bailey - July 2 of Kappa Mu, District III
Judy West - July 4 of Kappa Alpha, District X
Vicki Tolifson - July 4 of Kappa Mu, District III

AND, Happy Birthday America on July 4th!  If I calculated correctly, the United States is a whooping 237 years young! Aren't we fortunate to have the Freedom to Celebrate our Nation's Birthday.... Hope your July 4th Holiday is not only fun, but SAFE!

I am truly hoping you have been getting Blog/Email postings.  If you are getting this for the first time, you are able to access previous postings by clicking on the blogspot link below.  With this posting, there are six total. I can't believe I had posted six already... oh my gosh! Now if you want to get posts faster than the forwarding method from your District and Chapter Presidents, please email me directly with your name and email address. Use my email link below to send me the message.

"Talk" to you all next week! Remember, ESA's ... A Wonderful Life!
Love and Hugs to all Every Day Angels,

ESA Wonderful Wednesday - June 19, 2013

Happy Wonderful Wednesday Everyone!

Hope everyone is doing well this evening!  I am finally catching up at work.  So I now need to catch up with all my ESA tasks!

Let's start out with a little fun.... some IAWL trivia... Clarence AS II, George's Angel send to assist George to understand the importance of his life.  What was Clarence's last name? And, what does AS II stand for?

Juneteenth is a celebration observed in the US, and particularly in the State of Texas.  I am not going to get into the specifics of this day's meaning; other than, it is my understanding that it took several years to communicate the news of emancipation to slaves in Texas.  This starts me to wondering....Thankfully, it does not take four years to get information to everyone in today's world. In addition to my weekly blog/email, ESA and Texas has several methods of communicating news and events via the Jonquil, Headquarters' Web Site, Texas Web Site, and The TESAN. This year, we have a new Appointed Board Member for the Texas Executive Board - Social Media Chairman, Royce Walker.  Several other State Councils have done this as well this year to get the word out in FaceBook, Pinterest, Twitter, Linkedin, You Tube, etc., about ESA.... the good works, friendships/associations, leadership, networking, and educational aspects. It is becoming essential we "advertise" our beloved organization to insure our longevity in our communities. Moving forward, where would we be without ESA... the same place that Bedford Falls would have been without George Bailey!  Fortunately we can now communicate internally with the different tools at our finger tips; but by taking the steps for the future using Social Media, we can work together to reach many people who may be interested in working with us for our communities.

Now for Birthdays for the next week of June!  Happy Birthday Girlfriends....Cheree Harper - June 20, of Chi Kappa, District I - Cheree is our State Council Vocalist
Jennifer Schaefer - June 23, of Gamma Phi,  District IV
Sue Luedecke - June 23, of Lambda Nu, District V
Lynda Brandon - June 25, of Pi Delta, District I

June Benson - June 25, of Epsilon Iota, of District XI
Royce Walker - June 26, of Zeta Tau, District II - Royce is a PPAC member and our Social Media Chairman
Alice Bax - June 26, of District III
There is still time to send in your Registration for IC Convention, July 15-21, 2013, in Norfolk, Virginia, hosted by the Virginia State Council.  Several of us are planning on attending.  We would love to have you attend as well.  The registration form can be found on the Headquarters' Web Site. If you are planning to go, remember to wear your Texas Vest with black slacks, capris, or skirts and a white blouse.  IC Convention is filled with many activities and informative events.  There is still time to make plans to join us in Norfolk!

As I mentioned last week, please remember to send in your $12.00 for the August State Board Meeting and Leadership Seminar.  I sent the registration form last week with my blog/email.  It can also be found on our Texas Web Site and in the upcoming July/August TESAN issue.  We look forward to you attending!

District Meetings have started this month for many of our District Councils.  I am hoping to visit the Districts this year.  If I am unable to attend, we will work to have an Elected Officer attend in my place to bring you "Greetings" from the Texas State Council!

Some chapters have conducted meetings in the month of June and presented educational programs.  If this is true for your chapter, remember your educational report is due to your District Educational Director and the Texas State Council Educational Director, Marsha Killiam.  Your report must be sent by email OR snail mailed (postmarked) on or before July 5th.

Also, the quarterly service report is due to your District Service Director.  Your report must be sent by email OR snail mail (postmarked) on or before July 10th.  Our Texas State Council, Cathy Kaufman, will be receiving your chapter reporting via your District Service Director.  There is no need to mail your service report to Cathy.

Lastly, if you would enjoy receiving my blog/email directly, please send me an email at <sueannesa@yahoo.com>. Make sure you provide me with your email address in the body of the email.  I have gotten a few where the sender's email was hidden.  I will put you on the list.  This means you may receive if a bit faster than the forwarding method via your District Presidents.
Talk" to you all next week! Remember, ESA's ... A Wonderful Life! Love and Hugs to all Every Day Angels,
Sue Ann Tarleton, Texas State Council President 2013-2014 ESA

ESA Wonderful Wednesday - June 12, 2013

Happy Wonderful Wednesday Everyone!

Trying to back into the groove!

First off, thank you to those who have sent me cards and notes of sympathy due to the death of my aunt. I am in frequent contact with my uncle and cousins in Omaha, as they are working through some very tough days.

Based on the IC President's Magic Monday entry sent out yesterday, the IC 2013 Convention Association of the Arts form is due sooner than I was originally informed. The due date is June 15, 2013. So if you are planning to enter something into the completion in Norfork this coming July, please get that form filled out and mailed ASAP! You have until this coming Saturday get that going.

Additionally, if you have not sent your registration in for August 9-11, 2013 Texas State Council Board Meeting and Leadership Seminar, please do so soon. District VII will be our hostess at the MCM Elegante Suites at 4250 Ridgemont Drive in Abilene. The registration is just $12.00 as breakfasts are included in your hotel costs - what a deal! The Registration includes a $2.00 AV fee per person. A late fee of $5.00 will be applied if your registration is received after August 1, 2013. Room rates for 1 or 2 persons is $99.00 and $102.00 for 3 to 4 persons. Make your reservation under "ESA". The deadline for room rate is July 9, 2013. The Registration form can be found in our July/August TESAN that will be released very soon. Also, the form can be found on our Texas State Council WebSite. I am trying to figure out how to attach to the Blog, but it will be attached to the companion Wonderful Wednesday e-mail to be forwarded as needed. Rose Pasillas and her co-chairmen, Sigma Iota have promised a Wonderful Leadership Seminar. As soon as it is determined what service group we will target this week, I will send on that information to you. Likely this will be a support to one of the new Caring and Sharing focuses I have selected this year. You'll not want to miss this weekend of fellowship, fun, and festivities!

Sadly, I missed a May Birthday.... Happy Belated Birthday to Elaine Brundrett of Zeta Epsilon, District III.  Elaine attended her first Texas State Convention in May. She tells me she had a wonderful time..., her words! I hope she will attend many more. So a hearty welcome to ESA to Elaine and a Happy Belated Birthday!

And of course, tomorrow is the love of life's birthday, June 13th, Owen Smith, one of my Presidential Assistants for this year! Happy Birthday Sweetheart! Love you!

Tomorrow is our Flag Day, a commemerative celebration of our Nation's Flag.  It brings to mind the wonderful Flag Ceremony our PPAC members present annually at our State Conventions. When I see our Flag tomorrow, I planned to take a moment to say thanks to all those who have worked and/or fought for the freedom to fly our Flag each and every day!

Happy Father's Day to all of our Dads in Texas ESA and in our families!

ESA Wonderful Wednesday - Belated Wednesday, June 5, 2013

Happy and Wonderful Wednesday Everyone!

Hi Everyone... I do apologize for the late posting, but as most of you know, I left really early Tuesday morning on June 4th for my Aunt's funeral near Omaha, Nebraska.  Owen graciously drove me the total 1,400 miles to and from Bellevue, Nebraska.  I attended the Celebratory Services for Patricia "Pat" H. Tarleton on Wednesday, June 5th. I am very grateful I was able to make the sudden road trip there and back.  And I know from my Uncle and Cousins, they were just as thankful.  We made it home late last night driving through Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas in just 12 hours - Whew!

Both road trips, up and back, we went through Moore, Oklahoma.  It was so heartbreaking to see the devastation on each side of I-35. It almost appeared that the tornado jumped the interstate! Homes, with the emergency services markings for search and rescue were still visible on the homes, mangled signs, signs stripped of paint, demolished cars sitting in a mall parking lot, and buildings half gone. I hope any of our Oklahoma ESA Sisters and their friends and family members are safe and sound. It made me think of the ESA Disaster Fund.  Please consider adding the ESA Disaster Fund as well as the Texas Love Fund to your chapter and personal budgets for the coming year, if you have not done so already.  One just never knows when disaster strikes.  Having lived through several earthquakes, particularly the 7.2 shaker in October 1989, I know the toll a disaster can impact a person and their family.

Next week, I do promise, I will catch up on June Birthdays.  I know there was one May Birthday missed as the information from the chapter had not been sent.  If you chapter has not sent birthday information to Corresponding Secretary Joyce Smith, please do so immediately.  Additionally, if you have not sent your chapter membership and officers, please send today.  We may not have the time to follow-up to gather that important membership information from you.  Since we are now going to a totally electronic version of the roster, take a few moments to update Joyce with your order.  Thank you so much!

I know the TESAN reports were due while I was gone.  I had mine nearly ready.  So I will be sending today.  So get those in!

Lastly, for those of you who were wondering who the character was on the IAWL (It's A Wonderful Life) trivia question.... Mr. Potter played by the great Lionel Barrymore!

Thank you for your patience in my tardy posting of this email/blog.  My new routine was sadly tested due to the death of my favorite, one and only Aunt Pat!  I love her and miss her already!

Remember, ESA's ... A Wonderful Life.  Love and hugs to all ESA every day Angels!

Sue Ann Tarleton, Texas State Council President 2013-2014
