ESA Wonderful Wednesday - February 19, 2014

Happy Wonderful Wednesday!

Our First Vice President/President-Elect, Susanne Dullack, is working hard with her Nomination Committee to fill our ballot with Texas Sisters who have the desire to run for an elected officer. There is still time for you to let Susanne know you would enjoy putting your name on the ballot. So to put your name on the ballot for TESAN Editor, Parliamentarian, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, or even Second Vice President, do you fulfill the following criteria?
1. Are you an active member of the Texas State Council provided you have paid your individual, chapter, and district dues, if applicable?
2. Have you served as a chapter officer and have been an active member for two (2) consecutive years?
3. Are you planning to remain active in a chapter in good standing until the expiration of your term of office?
4. Are you planning to reside in the state of Texas during your term of office?
If you have answered yes to all of these questions…, and if you have not been an elective officer for two (2) consecutive terms in the same office provided there has not been an extraordinary exception (as outlined in the Bylaws); THEN YOU, yes YOU, can run for TESAN Editor, Parliamentarian, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, or even Second Vice President! I look forward to you placing your name on the ballot! With all of this said, we should be seeing many of you running!!!

It is a tough venture to find appointed officers as well. I would encourage you to accept an appointed position, if you chose not to run for an office and you are asked to serve! Working with our Texas Sisters is a WONDERFUL experience. I have enjoyed each position I have served in over the years. Allow yourself the opportunity to do the same!

I wanted to mention that I accidentally overlooked a presentation at the February State Board Meeting from our Caring and Sharing Team Lead, Donna Carter. I offer my apologies to Donna and those attending the Board Meeting. I know Leanne Dickens, our Audio-Visual Guru, and Donna had prepared a WONDERFUL look at Project Linus. We will make sure the presentation happens at Convention in May! I promise! It may be a good happening as more Texas Sisters will be in League City to view the great blanket works we have done this year!

Now for the IAWL Question from last week! The questions were - What names of characters on Sesame Street did Jim Henson use from characters in “It’s A Wonderful Life”? Who played this pair in the classic movie “It’s A Wonderful Life”? Well, the characters were the original Bert and Ernie. Burt was the cop, played by the famous Ward Bond. Frank Faylen played Ernie. Of the two actors, Ward Bond was the more famous. I explained much of what Ward Bond accomplished in the September 4, 2013 Blog entry. Did you guess Bert and Ernie? Did you guess the actors’ names? Hope so… And, hope you are having fun with the trivia questions!

Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday to the following sisters (and brothers) for the coming week!
Mary Ann Hefner – February 20 of Lambda Nu, District 5
Gay Lynn Leslie – February 20 of Beta Zeta, District 11
Nita Milliorn – February 20 of Epsilon Pi, District 5
Bobbi Bryant – February 23 of Sigma Phi, District 4
Margaret McMurtray – February 23 of Sigma Iota, District 6
