Happy Wonderful Wednesday Everyone!
There was so much that happened at IC last week,
I truly don’t know where to begin!
Thursday, I proudly held the Texas Flag during
the Hope for Heroes Event, not at the traditional Opening Ceremony during the
First Assembly. While not the large Texas Flag we are use to
seeing our State President carry in, it was still a great honor! I thank you
all! Thursday evening was the Mystery
Night to support the IC Board. Our Texas Team WON! We knew it
was Glenda (our own Rose) who killed the magician in the tank of water on the
stage tainted with boric acid because she wanted to branch out on her own… I
think!
Friday, we attended the Second Assembly that
featured our Keynote Speaker, David Hira – a magician and motivational speaker.
The afternoon was filled with Recognition Award Luncheon. Valerie Dickens, our
Jr. Past President will fill us in with all of wonderful awards received! Some
went to the St. Jude event and SYN tournament. Others strolled docked side and
enjoyed nice dinners out on the town.
Saturday, I represented the Texas Membership at the
Celebration of Life and Third Assembly. Following the Assembly, I met with Oklahoma and Kansas , the Central States
area. I enjoyed meeting everyone from those State Councils. Of course, Saturday
evening was Installation of Officers and the St. Jude Celebration of moneys
donated. Texas proudly donated over
$920,000.00 dollars to the overall $12 million for the year for all states
combined. Valerie Dickens represented our state on stage. Congratulations to
all!
After a few delays at airports and tarmacs, I
made it home Sunday evening. I thank you all for the privilege of attending as
your representative to the annual IC Convention!
Oh yes, the answer to last week’s IAWL Trivia
Question – What did George Bailey called the money left after paying off all
the shareholders the day of the run on the bank and the Bailey Brother’s
Building and Loan? I had several answers sent to me via email and text on my
phone. The answer is….. “Papa Dollar and Mama Dollar!”
I have some additional information on the type of donations for
Project Linus from our Warm Welcome Advocate, Donna Carter of the Sharing and
Caring Team. Okay, I was having some issues at the Hotel last week, and
obviously the information didn’t get into the posting. So here it finally is –
items that could be donated include yarn, flannel, and JoAnn’s gift cards. Some JoAnn’s stores allow purchase of material
tax free – just ask! It helps if 100%
cotton fabric is donated; as, it is best for quilts.
Remember, we will be completing this donation to
Project Linus during the August State Board Meeting in Abilene , hosted by District
VII.
It is August
9-11, 2013 at the MCM Eleganté. Rose Pasillas, Leadership Seminar
Chairman, ably assisted by her chapter, Sigma Iota, has planned a great
session on Saturday morning. Please make sure you send in your registration
soon! Time is getting close
