ESA Wonderful Wednesday - July 31, 2013

Happy Wonderful Wednesday Everyone!

Golly, where has time gone? Our summer is nearly over. Halloween and Thanksgiving items are starting to appear on store shelves. Back to School commercials are flooding our television viewing. In addition, the August Board Meeting is in just a few days. It is not too late, although a late fee will apply, to register for the August State Board Meeting and Leadership Seminar, hosted by District VII, in Abilene at the MCM Elegante. The price of the registration is only $12.00 as the hotel provides a complimentary, made to order breakfast every morning and festive refreshments in the early evening hours. A bargain for everyone, plus a wonderful time with sisters is always going to happen!  This meeting is my "Welcome To Bedford Falls".  Moreover, we will be caring and sharing with our donations to Project Linus.

I do apologize to everyone in the very disjointed delivery of the schedule of events, agendas, and board letter for the upcoming board meeting. (I will be attaching those to the email I am sending out in just a few minutes.) I have been busily working every evening since IC on the state roster for our Roster Chairman.  Thankfully, another member of our committee will be burning the CDs for us in the next several days. I plan to have an instruction sheet for each CD distributed to help understand what the folders of information will look like when the main folder is opened. Of course, if there are any questions when you open the roster, please let me know.

During the Leadership Seminar, our First Vice President, Susanne Dullack, will be letting us know that "Choctober" is coming back this fall for Membership and Rush. Therefore, we have more opportunities to share our ESA chocolate and friendship to everyone we know!  It was very successful last year, with many chapters and districts holding "Choctober" events. Is there really a better way to share chocolate than with a friend... and maybe a new ESA friend!

Speaking of eating, I did something last weekend I have never done before - Chili Tasting Judging!  Kappa Beta of Garland, District I, held their 6th Annual Chili Cook-Off. Okay, I fess up; I am a no-bean chili person and was fortunate to judge the final round of 18 different no-bean chili makings!  Owen, also, was a judge, which he enjoyed as he really likes to do make chili and cowboy beans.  The points that the chili chefs earn go towards their Terlingua Qualification.  So this is very serious for them, which was evident during the results announcements. I really enjoyed myself, learned about chili contests, chatted with some folks I had not seen in several years and with some, I am fortunate to see often.

I hope everyone has been keeping up with the healing process of our wonderful Past IC and Past Texas State Council President Judy Rittiman of District 3!  Our State Chaplain, Laura Martin, has been sending out information as she receives it.  Please keep our Judy in your prayers. Additionally, I did not have her listed in my Happy Birthday recognition last week.  Judy's birthday was this past Monday, July 29, 2013. If you have not had a chance to send her a get-well card, perhaps a belated birthday card would be just the right "medicine" for her!

Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday to the following sisters for the next week:
Annie Rodriguez – August 1 of Kappa Mu, District 3
Sue Ethington – August 1 of Theta Alpha, District 7
Heather Anderson – August 2 of Gamma Phi, District 4
Barbara Leafgreen – August 3 of Delta Xi, District 6
June Buzzell – August 5 of Pi Delta, District 1
Dianne Eskind – August 5 of Rho Theta, District 1
Coyita Bowker – August 5 of Delta Omicron, District 7
Shirley Heskew – August 6 of Gamma Phi, District 4
Jerry Harvey – August 6 of Kappa Kappa, District 4
Tammy Martinez – August 6 of Alpha Tau, District 6
Becky Hovermale – August 7 of Kappa Kappa, District 4
Rita Loftis – August 8 of Epsilon Pi, District 5

And, last week, I accidentally entered Mary Hernandez, Birthdate – July 31 as a member of Alpha Gamma, District I.  In actuality, Mary is a member of Theta Alpha of District 7. Sorry about that Mary….. Happy Birthday Today!!!!!!

Now for this Blogs IAWL Trivia Question.  When the distraught George Bailey came home to the Granville house, what tune is little Janie Bailey playing on the piano? Let me know your answers!

August 5th is in just a few days. I know some chapters having meetings already and perhaps an educational presentation in July. If you did, please make sure your program has been sent to your District and State Educational Directors on or by 8/5/2013!

District Presidents and Coordinators, I am beginning to find out that not all chapter presidents have computers, but someone within the chapter membership does. Would you forward my blog/emails to someone member in each chapter? In addition, if you know someone who might a prospective member or interested in ESA, forwarding my weekly emails may be a great way to introduce them to the best-kept secret ever!  This is my method of weekly communication to the entire membership during the year. If you desire to get the blog postings sooner than later, please let me know by email at sueannesa@yahoo.com and I will add you to a mailing group list I have set up. Additionally, the Blog can be viewed at <http://esawonderfulwednesday.blogspot.com>. Previous postings are there to if you need to catch up!

Remember, ESA's . . . A Wonderful Life!
Love and hugs to all Every Day Angels,
